The primary responsibilities for the health educator for the health department include: coordinator for the Chronic Disease Primary Prevention contract, working on the MCH (Maternal Child Health) contract, working on the childcare sanitation contract, to do the Monthly Monitor newsletter each month, providing resources and education to the community, and serving on several coalitions and councils in Howell County.  

    • Project Activities for CDPP
      • Consult with Texas County on Chronic Disease Contract.
      • Increase the number of public places in the service area that have written policies that restrict or ban smoking.
      • Increase access to places/facilities for physical activity and promote existing walking trails via formation of a map for Howell County.
      • Increase the number of target sites involved in community-wide campaigns to increase physical activity and promote healthy eating. 
      • Increase the number of smoking cessation programs in schools, businesses, and worksites.
      • Increase the number of community gardens in neighborhoods, on school property, and other community organizations offering community garden space for private and public use.
